The Flame meditation

”The lamps are different,
but the Light is the same.
One matter, one energy, one Light, one Light-mind,
Endlessly emanating all things.
One turning and burning diamond,
One, one, one.
Ground yourself, strip yourself down,
To blind loving silence.

”The lamps are different,
but the Light is the same.
One matter, one energy, one Light, one Light-mind,
Endlessly emanating all things.
One turning and burning diamond,
One, one, one.
Ground yourself, strip yourself down,
To blind loving silence.
Stay there, until you see
You are gazing at the Light
With its own ageless eyes.”

– Jalal-ud-Din Rumi

I so love this poem by Rumi, it reminded me of this mediation.

A great way to prepare the mind for ritual.

Meditation on the candle fame.

Bring attention to the third eye about an inch from your forehead visualize the flame of a candle.

The flicker of the flame from the warm soft yellow tip down the center to the dark cool blue of the bottom of the flame.

Merging the the shaft of the wick, holding on to it so gently. The flame dance hearing its soft hissing and crackle as it licks the wax and burns ever so slowly. Let your mind become adsorbed by the flame. A merging…

By doing this all other thoughs dissipate and you become the clear channel. Then the flame disappears and your are conscious of nothing in nothingness, you find perfect stillness.
